đź’Ą A Non-Exhaustive List of the Mistakes That Built My Business đź’Ą

So you’ve got a big idea, a catchy name, and just enough caffeine to register an LLC. Welcome to the club! I did it too—and made just about every rookie mistake along the way.

Here’s a lovingly chaotic list of the things I learned the hard way so maybe you won’t have to.

THERE WAS A DOGGIE, SO I DID SOMETHING RIGHT!

1. Started Working Without a Contract

Because “we’re friends” and “it’s just a quick project” turned into “where is my money” and “why are you ghosting me now?”

Lesson: If it’s not in writing, it didn’t happen. Contracts are love languages.

2. ADHD + Paperwork = Endless Procrastination

I had the idea. I had the domain. But did I file the LLC paperwork? Not for months! Executive dysfunction had me in a headlock.

Lesson: Just do the boring stuff.

3. Forgot to charge tech for a Client Shoot

You know what doesn’t work without power? Literally everything I brought - myself included.

Lesson: Always pack extras. Charge the night before. Double-check your bag like your future self depends on it—because it does.

4. Did Project-Based Work Without a Clear Payment Timeline

Nothing like finishing a project and then waiting... and waiting... and waiting.

Lesson: Milestones. Deposits. Late fees. You are not a bank.

5. Undercharged Because I Was “New”

Spoiler: Being new doesn’t mean your time is free.

Lesson: Charge like you know what you’re doing—even if you’re still Googling half of it.

Final Takeaway:

I’ve messed up a lot. But I’ve also grown a ton, learned to stand up for my work, and created a business that (somehow) still brings me joy. Mistakes were made—but sparks flew anyway.
